The People of Ciwaluh Signing a Collaboration with the Mts. Gede-Pangrango National Park - Part 1

Living in harmony with the nature is the spirit of the people of Kampong Ciwaluh. They are different from other people who have the tendency of destroying the forest. The people of Ciwaluh has this conservation spirit from long time ago. This spirit and behaviour has spared the kampong from drought, flood, and erotion. The forested area in Ciwaluh is part of the Mts. Gede-Pangrango National Park area.

Ciwaluh is Heading for Organic Certification

Even though the life style and farming system of Ciwaluh community is done naturally and in harmony with the nature, it is still not an easy thing to get international acknowledgment as a community with organic way of living and producing.

Nangela, the new Writhe of Organic Village

Nangela is one of the kampongs of Desa Pabangon, Leuwiliang SubDistrict, Bogor. Nangela has a population of 150 families or 700 people. It is 15 kilometres away from the capital of Kecamatan Leuwiliang. The kampong is surrounded by Perhutani forest area. Nevertheless, since 2002, the status of forest area has changed into Gunung Halimun-Salak National Park area. Being isolated and far from nearest towns, nangela is not as much touched by development projects. Eventhough the village can be reached by motorbike or car, but the condition of the road which is heavily damaged hampered the resource mobilisation stripe.

On Sunday, May 25 2008, Kelompok Tani Lindung Harapan has conducted an exchange visit to an organic vegetable demonstration plot (demplot) in Dramaga, Bogor. This DEMPLOT is owned and managed by farmer group Pak Tani ORGANIK which is founded since April 2004. They are conducting vegetable cultivating with organic way. There were plenty of farmer group who has visited and making a training of the organic vegetable cultivating.
